The time of the big fire in the monastery corresponded with the period of the Bulgarian National Revival. The restoration of the monastery became the goal of all Bulgarians. Hundreds of people from all around the Bulgarian lands were donating money or were coming to participate as builders, woodcarvers and painters. It was a big honor for them to give their contribution for the restoration.
