Serdika has been a part of the Roman empire for eight centuries. Throughout this time there was a water supply and sewerage system, and the catchment of the city was in today’s Boyana neighborhood, 8 km. away. Part of the urban monumental architecture of Serdika was the city thermae, which used hot mineral springs. Part of Serdika is also the amphitheatre of Serdika and the archaeological Roman ruins, which remain in the Losenetz neighborhood.
