Plovdiv is the oldest existing populated town in Europe and one of the oldest in the whole world. Its 8-thousand-year-old history started from the most popular hill – “Nebet Tebe”. Its name comes from Turkish language – “nebet” means guards and “tepe” means hill – the hill of the guards. Its altitude is 206 meters above sea level and also 46 meters compared to the boulevard passing down next to it.
